HAIR Fall and Its REASONS

Everybody these days is complaining to be suffering from hair loss

Hair fall is, in most of the cases, is genetic but you may lose your hair for many other reasons like stress, medications, major surgery, etc. Hair loss occurs not only from the scalp but also from other areas like skin hair, pubic hair, etc.

With more than 100,000 hair on our scalp, it is said that we lose nearly 50-100 hairs every day. The number is less noticeable with that much number of hair on our head. The newly generated hair compensates the loss. But if hair fall occurs suddenly or in more numbers, it is something to be concerned about. Hair loss, can be temporary and corrected by taking proper care, and can also be permanent (mostly genetic).

The genetic hair loss is usually termed as androgenic alopecia. Here there is thinning of hair or occurrence of baldness. And hereditary hair loss is the most common type of hair fall problem faced by the people in the world. Certain sex hormones are to be blamed for triggering the genetic hair loss. In females, hair loss occurs mainly from the center and front of the head with gradual thinning of hair while males have bald patches on their scalp.

Besides the genetic loss of hair, there are several other reasons that you should blame for the loss of hair from your head. These are:

  • Age: Older people suffer from hair loss more frequently and in more numbers than middle-aged people and children.
  • Medications: If you are under specific drugs for the treatment of cancer, heart problems, stress depression, etc. you may suffer from severe hair fall problems. Hair fall can also be triggered if you have undergone any major surgery.
  • Autoimmune diseases: Alopecia areata is a dangerous autoimmune disease where the immune system of the body attacks its own hair leading to sudden and permanent hair loss. Consult your doctor to cure this as soon as possible.
  • Stress: Stress is also one of the major causes of hair loss. Lower down your stress levels by practicing yoga and exercising regularly.
  • Other diseases: Diseases like diabetes, lupus, thyroid, and anemia can cause sudden hair fall problems, and these diseases should be treated to stop hair fall.
  • Diet: A poor diet with low protein can be the nutritional reason for hair loss. Try to improve the quantity of your protein intake to put a break to your hair fall problems. Take foods that stimulate hair growth like eggs, spinach, nuts, fruits, etc.
  • Hormonal changes: To all women out there, you may blame the hormonal changes in your body for the sudden loss of hair. Puberty, menopause, childbirth can alter the levels of hormones in your body that may trigger hair fall.
  • Also, major emotional shock due to death of loved ones, broken marital status, etc. might put you under more stress and cause several hair fall problems.

Maintaining a healthy diet, staying calm and relaxed are some ways to keep your hair healthy. Refrain from putting your hair under stress by doing frequent hairstyles (straightening, curling, etc.). If you are suffering from certain diseases that trigger hair loss, then consult your doctor to cure them.
